Lights…Camera…Action!
On Tuesday, November 15th, the Tampa Connection Class took the stage at the Straz Performing Arts Center for Arts Program Day. We began the afternoon with a backstage tour of the many auditoriums and stages that the performing center offers to audiences.
The latter half of the day showcased an amalgam of art through speakers, talent, and artists from the Tampa Bay area to speak about and/or demonstrate their influences on the community.
From non-profits such as the Heart Gallery, helping children through the art of photography, to learning more about music & its influences through the Florida Orchestra, theater & acting from Stageworks, Hip Hop Dancers from VYB, Film in Florida from the Hillsborough County Film Commissioner (& Executive Director, Tampa Hillsborough Film & Digital Media Commission), comedy performance, and more art from the Tampa Public Arts Program – the class experienced a range of exciting arts that exist and influence the expanding culture of the Tampa Bay Area and….the world!
We closed down the evening with a classy upscale social in the fabulous upstairs pre-show dining room, & restaurant, Maestro’s. The participants had opportunity to unwind and connect with many of the artists while imbibing the sounds of live music and the aroma of passed fancy hors d’oeuvres – with a few surprise cameo dance moves from one of our class members as well!
That’s a wrap for Arts Day…looking forward to another community connection opportunity for December’s Class day!
