Tampa Connection’s successful launch of Philanthropy Engagement Day.

On Tuesday, April 18, Tampa Connection proudly hosted its first ever Philanthropy Engagement Day, which was a great way to wrap up the Class of 2016 program before graduation coming up in May.  One of the major strengths of Tampa Connection is its focus on preparing members to become active volunteers in the Tampa Bay community.  Philanthropy Engagement Day gave the class a chance to network with 16 amazing local nonprofits in need of help.

Speaker Bridget McNamee, Labor Law Attorney at Thompson, Sizemore, Gonzalez & Hearing, P.A., a Tampa Connection Alumni currently chairing the board of Voices for Children, graciously shared with the class the impact that Tampa Connection had in terms of sparking her sustained community involvement.  The class then spent time learning about the 16  non-profit participants in a speed networking format, a fun and engaging way for them to determine which organization(s) might be the right match. The 16 organizations were: 1Voice Foundation, After School All-Stars Tampa Bay, Academy Prep Center of Tampa, Creative Clay Cultural Art Center, Dress For Success, Drug Abuse Comprehensive Coordinating Office (DACCO), First Tee of Tampa Bay, Florida Holocaust Museum, Frameworks of Tampa Bay, Humane Society of Tampa Bay, Make-a-Wish, PACE Center for Girls Hillsborough, Ryan Nece Foundation, Spring of Tampa Bay, The Kiwanis, and Trinity Cafe.

The event took place at The Centre Club, a beautiful venue in the Westshore district. The Centre Club was wonderful to work with and produced a great social hour with copious drinks and appetizers, to conclude a rewarding Philanthropy Engagement Day.
